During the end of the sales events in 2017, Parfumerie Douglas GmbH suffered significant lost of revenues due to unstable E-commerce platform. In fact, their online platform is based on monolithic Hybris system which suffers to cope with increase loads and also lack of online visibility on Search engines.

In order to resolve those issues and to stay ahead with their competitors, a team of experts from Lawani Consulting  Ltd was engaged alongside with internal team at Douglas to work tirelessly from April 2018 until December 2018.

We redesign their E-commerce platform using latest technologies in the industries such as Microservices, Functional Programming language e.g. Scala and frameworks such as PlayFramework, together with Cloud based Content Management system such as Contentful and vendor specific systems such as FactFinder.

This architecture enables us to route around 80% of their shop system to the new microservices and 20% still being served purely from Hybris. The new architecture has had significant impact on Q1 FY 2018/2019 results at Douglas as shown below:
